Dementia and Alzheimer's Care
South Hall
Sixty-five elders with early- to mid-stage dementia (Alzheimer’s Disease) live in three Eden families in our South Hall. Persons with early stage dementia live on the second and third floors, while residents with moderate dementia live on the fourth floor.
Each elder has his or her own room, and all have a private bath as well. Each family unit features a living room, kitchen, and dining area — just like home.
On the 1st floor we have a main dining room, private dining area, assembly room, chapel, and living room. Just a short walk down the hall brings one to Don & Norma's,
our old-fashioned ice cream parlor. There is easy access to the great outdoors, with our deck, secured enclosed patio, outside walking path,
and vegetable and flower gardens. On the lower level are our fitness center, arts and crafts room, and beauty salon.
A bus, a van, and lots of volunteers make community outings a regular part of residential life - destinations include social and cultural events, restaurants, picnics at the beach, shopping, and rides in the country.
The South Hall Families
Elders with early stage dementia live on the second and third floors; they need direction and support in their daily routines. All are assisted with personal care, housekeeping, laundry, and medication management. Along with nutritious dining, residents engage in a variety of meaningful activities each day.
It Takes Two is the name of the second floor family, which is comprised of 21 elders, 22 staff members, and many relatives and friends of all ages.
It Takes Two enjoys planning family meals and gatherings featuring their traditional specialties.
Our third floor household calls itself Home Away From Home. Family members include 22 elders, 26 staff members, and several cats. Third-floor residents especially enjoy outings and they often participate in our community's many cultural programs.
Residents with moderate dementia live on the fourth floor, which is a secure unit for those who may wander. The Penthouse Sweet is the name of our fourth floor family. These residents need and receive greater 1:1 support and assistance in their daily routine. The "Sweets" consist of 22 elders, their relatives and friends, 30 staff members, and a few cats. Their name describes their passion, as they enjoy baking everything from pizzelles to baklava.
